All children in Finland are vaccinated against nine
contagious diseases free of charge. Some of the diseases
against which children are vaccinated are nowadays rare in
Finland, thanks to the vaccination programme. All nine
diseases against which the children are vaccinated are
serious illnesses. An unvaccinated child may be permanently
impaired or may even die from any of the diseases.
Visitors to Finland should at least be vaccinated against
tetanus. Vaccinations against hepatitis A and B are also
recommended.
Adults living in Oulu can get their basic vaccinations
(tetanus, diphtheria and MPR) and prescriptions for
hepatitis vaccinations at their local health centre.
Children under school age are vaccinated in child welfare
clinics. School-age children are vaccinated in school
healthcare clinics.
If you have any questions related to vaccinations, please
contact your local health centre.
