If you need urgent police assistance, telephone 112.
When making an emergency call:
- Explain what has happened and where.
- Give the exact address and location of the accident/incident.
- Answer all questions calmly.
Help is being sent out even
as you speak.
- Listen to all instructions carefully.
- Do not disconnect the call until the operator tells you to
do so.
- Do not make other calls with the phone after disconnecting,
as the emergency services may try to call you back for more
information.
Emergency medical services
Weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm
Healthcare for Oulu residents is provided in the health
centre of the applicable district. Health centres treat both
long-term and sudden illnesses and minor injuries during
office hours, Mon–Thu from 8 am to 4 pm and Fri from 8 am to
3 pm.
Weekends and weekday evenings and nights
The joint emergency duty service treats sudden illnesses and
injuries which are too urgent to wait for the next workday
morning an appointment with the family doctor from 4 pm to 8
am (Fridays from 3 pm).

Before seeking help you should first telephone the health
advice number on 08 315 2655. Calls are answered 24 hours a
day. All calls are answered by a nurse who will give you
instructions regarding your illness and assesses the need to
seek immediate medical assistance. Patients are treated in
the order of emergency.
Fees
All patients over 18 years of age must pay a fee of €22
every time they are treated on weekdays between 8 pm and 8
am or on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays. On weekdays
from 8 am to 8 pm the standard health centre fee applies.
If the treatment also requires examination by a hospital
doctor, a fee of €22 is charged from the patient, regardless
of his/her age.
